CODE OF ETHICS
The Dachshund Association of Canada (DAC) is recognized as a National Breed Club by the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC) and is responsible for the preservation and promotion of all CKC recognized Dachshunds in Canada.
The DAC is a national membership organization representing purebred Dachshund activities in Canada. The Board of the DAC is elected from the membership throughout Canada and is responsible to that membership; all members of the DAC agree to adhere to the following principles:
1. All members of DAC will comply with the Bylaws, Constitution, rules and regulations established by the DAC Board and the requirements of the CKC. Members in contravention of the CKC and/or DAC Bylaws may be subject to discipline, with an imposition of appropriate penalties up to and including depriving them of club privileges.
2. All DAC members will provide their dogs with appropriate housing, food and health care. Indiscriminate breeding is discouraged. The health and welfare of the bitch, dog, and puppies will be paramount. Members will not knowingly sell any puppy of dog to a dealer, broker, or pet store. All importing and exporting of Dachshunds will be done with due diligence and care.
** The DAC disapproves of the exporting of Dachshunds to any country with a reputation for inadequate standards in the care of dogs.
All inquiries for breeding stock should be investigated thoroughly.

3. Stock representing serious hereditary, debilitating faults are encouraged to be excluded from any breeding program. All health testing available for Dachshunds is encouraged to be utilized by all breeders.
4. All purebred Dachshund puppies will be registered with the CKC and purchasers of the puppies will be supplied with the appropriate CKC registration papers at no additional cost.
5. All sales of dogs as companion animals will be subject to DAC members’ sales contracts and the non-breeding provisions of the CKC.
6. Good sportsmanship shall prevail for all DAC members who compete with their dogs. A spirit of friendship and goodwill is encouraged. DAC members are encouraged to applaud and appreciate others’ successes, and are encouraged to welcome, educate, and assist newcomers with all aspects and rewards of competing with, and breeding Dachshunds.
